Our Core Values

There are a set of core values that define who we are as a church. Bethel Evangelical Baptist Church is:

  • Christ-Centered: Whatever we do, we do it because we are a church that put God first. We want to put God first in all areas of our lives, and help others do the same. So everything we do centers on Christ and Who He is.
  • Authentic: There is only one you! God designed each of us to be who we are. We believe in being sincere with God and with others. This helps us be authentic Christians.
  • Relational: We value building relationships with each other. Relationships are how the body of Christ is joined together. We believe in purposefully and proactively pursuing relationships with each other.
  • Creative: God is the creator. We are created in His image, and that means we have been given the capacity to be creative. We are always looking for new ways to present the immutable truth of God's word in creative and fresh ways, through media, music, drama, and dance, as well as creative outreach ideas.
  • Diverse: It is our goal to be a body of people that shows forth the unity of Christ by having a church that embraces diverse ages, ethnics, level of education and economic backgrounds. Galatians 3:26-28: "You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
  • Excellence: We strive to do the very best job possible with the resources God has given us, and to do the best work we can possibly do, knowing that doing so brings honor to God. ("Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." Colossians 3:23-24)
  • Experiential: We know that people need to experience God in a real and living way, so our services are geared to make it possible to for people to spend time in the presence of God where they can be refreshed and changed.
  • Relevant: The word of God is eternal and immutable. It never changes. But man is not like that. We, and the culture we live in, will continually change. We are committed to presenting the eternal word of God in culturally relevant way.
  • Accepting: None of us came to God in a state of perfection. He loved us first, just like we were. We want to extend this same love to people who come through our doors. We want everyone to feel accepted and loved, because that's how we came to know God ("But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8; "We love because he first loved us." I John 4:19)
  • Good Stewards:God is the source of all blessings, both spiritual and physical. Then, everything we are and everything we are due to him. He is just letting us "borrow" or "steward" what we have. We also believe in empowering God's people to be good.
